Issue/Introduction
Description:
This document explains the methods to check if the CA Data Direct ODBC driver is working.
Solution:
There are two ways to test the CA Data Direct ODBC driver
Method 1:
Open the command prompt and navigate to $NX_ROOT/bin folder
Run the command pdm_isql and hit enter. It will display the isql prompt. See Fig 1
It will display connecting to database casd_Server_Name. See Fig 2

If incorrect login information is provided or if there is any problem with the ODBC driver it displays an error message.
Type Exit to disconnect
Method 2
On the CA Business Intelligence Server, Go to Start->All Programs->Business Objects XI Release 2->Designer
Login to Designer as Administrator
On the Menu bar, go to Tools->Connections. See Fig 1

Select CA ServiceDesk connection and click on Test. It should display the message "The server is responding" See Fig 2

If it displays an error message, click on the Details button to find out more information about the error message. Click on Edit button to modify the settings.
