Issue/Introduction

Description:

When the documented reasons for the PV041 error have been exhausted, the error can be baffling.

Solution:

There are multiple causes for the PV041 Unequal Volume Control error explained in the CA PANVALET documentation.
When those have been exhausted, check the JCL. The error is frequently corrected by specifying the proper datasets on the DD statements.

DDname PANDD1 must always point to the dataset name of the PANLIB, regardless of the function.
DDname PANDD3 is the protection or tape backup file.
