Issue/Introduction

A broken UDP connection to a syslog server can cause processing delays on the Gateway.

Environment

Release:
Component: APIGTW

Cause

A log Sink configuration with an external syslog Server may cause Gateway processing delays if the defined UDP link of the syslog Server is not reachable. The Gateway stop processing while it tries to reach the syslog Server.

The ssg log of the Gateway /opt/SecureSpan/Gateway/node/default/var/logs/ssg_0_0.log shows following messages in such situations:

com.l7tech.server.log.syslog.impl.MinaManagedSyslog: Syslog connection attempt failed

Resolution

Verify that the correct UDP link to the syslog Server has been configured on the Manage Log/Audit Sinks or disable the Log Sink.

Verify that the syslog Server can be reached from the Gateway.
