Issue/Introduction

Description:

A User Record cannot be saved and message MENA20xx is displayed which indicates a conflict with key settings. This document explains what to do in order to resolve this problem.

Solution:

In the 'TPX User Options' an Administrator can update the following five key settings:

  • Command key, Jump key, Menu key and Print key on the first panel (Panelid TEN0123)
  • Window Mode key on the fourth panel (Panelid TEN0121)

Those keys have default setting which are shown in column 'System defaults' in these panels.

If you change any of these key settings to a different value you need to take care that these values are different from each other. If you try to save the user record and any pair of the five keys is assigned the same value, one of the following error messages appear:

MENA2001 Jump key conflicts with Command key
MENA2002 Menu key conflicts with Command key
MENA2003 Print key conflicts with Command key
MENA2004 Menu key conflicts with Jump key
MENA2005 Print key conflicts with Jump key
MENA2006 Print key conflicts with Menu key
MENA2011 Window mode key conflicts with Command key
MENA2012 Window mode key conflicts with Jump key
MENA2013 Window mode key conflicts with Menu key
MENA2014 Window mode key conflicts with Print key

As it is not possible to assign one key for two different actions the save is not possible and the user is informed about that conflict by message MENA2011.

To resolve this you can do the following:

If the Command key is not involved:

Change the setting of one of the two keys indicated in the message MENS20xx to a different value and save again. To change the Window mode key press PF8 three times in the 'TPX Userid Maintenance Detail Panel' to get into the Windows Options panel.

If the Command key is involved:

either

  • Change the setting of the other key to a different value than the Command key and save again. To change the Window mode key press PF8 three times in the 'TPX Userid Maintenance Detail Panel' to get into the Windows Options.

or

  • Change the setting of the Command Key. This can be done for the user in the same 'Userid Maintenance Detail Panel' where the other keys are set. Or you can change the setting of the Command Key in the 6th panel of SMRT. This change will become effect for all users of TPX, so this is not the recommended way to resolve this problem.
