How to setup Email notifications in CA Business Intelligence?

Issue/Introduction

Description

This document explains the steps to enable email notifications for different types of reports in CA Business Intelligence.

Solution

CA Business Intelligence for ServiceDesk R12 comes with many Crystal reports and Web Intelligence reports. In CA Business Intelligence, email notifications can be enabled for specific report types.

Configuring SMTP settings for Crystal Reports.

  1. Login to Central Management Console as Administrator.


  • Click on Servers under Organize section. See Fig 1

  • In the List of Servers, click on Crystal Reports Job Server with the name server_name.reportobjserver.


  • In the properties of Crystal Reports Job Server, go to Destinations tab.


  • From the list of destination names, click on Email (SMTP). See Fig 2

  • Enter the information for the following fields


  • Domain Name: Name of the domain in which the mail server is present.


  • Server Name:  SMTP server name.


  • Port: Port number for SMTP server to send out emails.


  • Authentication: None if no authentication is required.


  • SMTP Username: Only if SMTP server requires authentication.


  • SMTP Password: Password of the SMTP username.


  • From: Email address to be used to send out emails.




  • Other options like TO, CC, Subject is ooptional as they can also be specified on a specific report.


  • Click on Update. See Fig 3

  • Go back to the Destinations tab, Click on the check box for Email (SMTP) and click on the button Enable to enable the SMTP server. You will be prompted to confirm if you want to enable the server. Click on OK.  See Fig 4

  • This red icon will be removed indicating the server is enabled.
  • Configuring SMTP settings for Web Intelligence Reports

    1. Login to Central Management Console as Administrator


  • Click on Servers under Organize section.


  • In the List of Servers, click on Web Intelligence Job Server with the name server_name.Web_Intelligence Job Server


  • In the properties of Web Intelligence Job Server, go to Destinations tab.


Repeats steps 5 to 9 from the above section to enable email notifications for web intelligence reports.
