Solution

We have had several of these messages and have found all of them to be that the tape had not been initialized.

To verify that this is the problem, try mounting that same tape via VM:Tape outside of HiDRO's use. You should see the same HCP error.

To mount that same tape outside of HiDRO enter:

VMTAPE MOUNT VM0003

or mount it with native DFSMS commands if VM:Tape is not available.

VM:Tape has a TAPEINIT command that can be used to easily get a tape mounted. Using the NEW option, VM:Tape will not look for a label and will be able to initialize the tapes without any problem.

The command would be:

VMTAPE TAPEINIT SCRATCH SERIES vvvvvv 4 (NEW DEN ETCC

This will ask for 4 tapes to be mounted and initialize them.

Review the TAPEINIT command in the VM:Tape Command Reference. You might not want to use SERIES and just enter the specific volsers.
