Issue/Introduction

How to configure the default Agent on the Standby Server to run workload when the Primary Server default Agent is down?

Environment

Release: CAWAS999000-11.1-Workload Automation-Agent for Application Services
Component:

Resolution

In a CA Workload Automation High Availability configuration, you can configure the default Agent on the Standby Server to run workload when the Primary Server failover to the Standby Server.

Note that in CA Workload Automation, Agent does not "failover". However, you can configure the "default agent" to run workload after failover occurs on the server side.

In order to achieve this, make sure that;

  1. You manually add the Standby server default Agent to the server Topology.

  2. Agent Name in the agentparm.txt file in the agent installation directory on the Standy server is the same as the default Agent Name on the Primary server.

  3. Address for the default Agent in the server Topology is set to "localhost".

  4. Port number for both Agents must be the same.
