How to recover from damaged tape?

 

 

Resolution

  1. Delete the INDEX for the scratched/deleted PRIMARY TAPE
  2. Use the SOURCE DUMP to point to the ALTERNATE tape
  3. Possibly run a TAPEINIT to get a new PRIMARY CART

To circumvent the problem recreate the tape from an ALTERNATE.
