Description:

CPUMXPBS is the maximum percent busy for an individual processor in the LPAR.

Solution:

CPUMXPBS is the maximum percent busy for an individual processor in the LPAR. It is calculated as CPUMXPBS=MAX(CPUMXPBS,IPUPCBS) in the DAY020 source code. For systems where CPU is evenly distributed across all processors this is approximately the same as the maximum CPUPCBSY for the interval. However, this is not the case when the CPU usage is not evenly distributed. One example where the processor utilization is not the same is when HyperDispatch (HiperDispatch was introduced with IBM's z10 server) is used. To get the maximum CPU busy (for the entire LPAR/system) calculate the MAX of CPUPCBSY from the DETAIL time span for the period to be reported.
