Issue/Introduction

Description:

Customer is using IE 6 and having cookies issue after providing credentials. The message in the browser shows:

"Please Note: Access to this web site requires that cookies pass properly
between your web browser and this web server. Please check the following and
retry your request:
your web browser is configured to accept cookies.
you are using a fully qualified domain name in your URL.
http://server.domain.com/index.html is CORRECT.
http://server/index.html is INCORRECT.
http://123.123.22.22/index.html is INCORRECT."

Solution:

There is an underscore in DNS alias (ex: my_sample.ca.com). Microsoft technote:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/275033

shows "Cookies Are Not Saved If the Host Name Is Invalid". The issue is due to underscore (_) appearing at host name. IE will not serve cookies if the Host Name Is Invalid. This behavior shows in IE browser only and is not limited to IE 5.x but 6.x is also affected.

Customer should avoid invalid characters in the DNS entry to resolve this issue.
