Issue/Introduction

The following abend messages appear in the SSI log and on the Console:

NZ8601 NMSSI ABEND N-Z44-80 JN=NMSSI DT=2009255 TM=22532715
NZ8602 SRC=AB PRD=NMSSI VRS=V6.3 PUT=0810 ABC=N-Z44-80
NZ8603 ALM=NMSSI005 ALO=00007B66 ACS=NM000Z44 ACO=00000BAE

What needs to be done to correct this SSI abend?

Environment

Release: ESBNSP99000-11.6-NetSpy-Premier Support
Component:

Resolution

The N-Z44-80 abend messages are typically driven by the presence of NSN58x messages in the log, not limited to:

NSN581 SNANMI SUBTASK INIT FAILED, RC: R15=00000000 CODE: 8 SUBCODE: 0
NSN584 VTAM SNAMGMT SERVER IS NOT STARTED, RETVAL: FFFFFFFF

The functionality that causes these errors was introduced with the 11.6 SP1 release level with the addition of the Enterprise Extender Reporting. In order to do EE monitoring, you must enable the SNAMGMT interface. If you are not interested in EE statistics, then the resolution is as simple as setting SNANMI=NO.

But, on the other hand, if you want the Enterprise Extender functionality, you need to ensure that the SNA interface is configured as outlined in the CA NetMaster Network Management for TCP/IP Installation Guide beginning at the bottom of page 61 and continuing on page 62.

Note: If you are seeing the NSN581 with CODE:8 accompanied with the NSN584 with RETCODE: 81 and RSNCODE: 0594003D, then the issue is typically corrected when access to the /var directory has been readjusted. Please note the following comment from the Installation Guide:

Access problems to /var and IST.NETMGMT.sysname.SNAMGM are indicated by the presence of messages NSN58n in the SOLVE SSI log.
