Issue/Introduction

Description:

Start up of CA 11 receives DB00501E - OPEN ERROR - RETURN CODE 68 (012) CXX.

Solution:

CA Datacom/AD MUF should be completely up before starting the CA 11 address space. If not, the following error messages will occur:

U11D-0230-F PLEASE START THE CA-DATACOM MUF
DB00501E - OPEN ERROR - RETURN CODE 68 (012) CXX=

If you find that CA Datacom/AD MUF has successfully initialized, the following steps are necessary to determine why the return code is occurring:

  • Verify that CA 11 is starting on the same LPAR as CA Datacom/AD.

  • If CA 11 is starting on an LPAR (within the sysplex) other than the one CA Datacom/AD MUF is active on, the CA Datacom/AD SVC should be initialized by CAIRIM on that LPAR. Within a sysplex, CA 11 on remote LPARs connects to the CA Datacom/AD MUF via XCF. For XCF setup verifies that the XCFFROM MUF Startup option is uncommented in the DBDATIN1 member in CUSMAC library. The XCFFROM option should specify '*' for the first parameter (wild carded task names that can access the MUF) and also specify the correct TOGROUP value. For additional information see the CA Datacom/DB Database and Systems Administrator Guide Section 2.7.

  • If CA 11 is starting on an LPAR (outside sysplex) other than the one CA Datacom /AD MUF is active on, the CCI Setup for CA Datacom/AD needs to be in place. For additional information see the CA Datacom/DB Database and Systems Administrator Guide Section 2.8.

  • Verify that the MUF startup option has the same value as the MUFNAME or TARGET_MUF_LIST value in the DBIDSPR member in the CA Datacom/AD CUSMAC library. For additional information see the CA Datacom/DB Database and Systems Administrator Guide Section 3.8 (Modifying DBSIDPR Parameters).
