Resolution

The best tool to determine if Spectrum is receiving traps or not is to run a sniffer on the SpectroSERVER system.

This can be done using a third party product like Wireshark on Windows, tcpdump on Linux or snoop on Solaris.

If sniffer verifies the traps are not being received at the SpectroSERVER system;

1. Verify the devices are configured to send traps to the SpectroSERVER system.

2. Verify there is not a firewall between the SpectroSERVER system and the device preventing the traps from getting to the SpectroSERVER system.

If the sniffer verifies the traps are being received at the SpectroSERVER system, then the trap packets can be analyzed to determine why Spectrum is not processing them as expected.
