Issue/Introduction

Unknown Alert event seen in SPECTRUM after compiling a trap mib in MIB Tools

Environment

Release: Any
Component:

Cause

Possible causes:

1. The trap was not mapped after compiling the mib in MIB Tools

2. The SpectroSERVER Event Configuration cache was not updated after importing the trap mib in MIB Tools

3. The tap oid in the trap mib is different than the trap oid sent in the trap itself

Resolution

1. Ensure the trap was mapped in MIB Tools by doing the following:

    a. Log into OneClick as an ADMIN user

    b. Launch MIB Tools by selecting Tools -> Utilities -> MIB Tools from the top level menu

    c. Search for and select the compiled mib in the Navigation panel

    d. Click on the MAP tab in the Contents panel

    e. Check the Trap Support panel to verify if the trap was mapped or not

2. Ensure the Event Configuration cache was updated by doing the following:

    a. Log into OneClick as an ADMIN user

    b. Find and select the VNM model

    c. Click on the Information tab in the Component Detail panel

    d. Find and expend the SpectroSERVER Control subview

    e. Click on the Update Event Configuration button

3. Verify the trap oid from the trap mib is the same trap oid sent by the device for the trap

    a. Note the trap oid for this trap from the $SPECROOT/custom/Events/AlertMap file

    b. Run a sniffer on the SpectroSERVER system where the device is modeled

    c. Have the device send one of the traps

     d. Compare the trap oid from the AlertMap file with the trap oid from the sniffer
