  • How do you add the 'Scheduler Format' field to the project properties page?
  • How do you change the default scheduler (Open Workbench (OWB) or Microsoft Project (MSP))?

Resolution

To make this change for all users:

  • This can be done via a few different options via Clarity Studio.
  • When changing the default scheduler, any existing projects will still have the original scheduler set as the default.
  • The existing projects will need to be changed manually

To add the format field when creating new projects:

  1. In Clarity PPM, click on Objects under Studio.
  2. Click on the Project link in the 'Objects' column.
  3. Click on the Views link.
  4. Click on [Layout: Create] to the right of Project Properties.
  5. Click on the General link.
  6. Click on the 'Properties and Layout' icon.
  7. Select 'Schedulers Format' under the 'Available 'column.
  8. Click on the 'Add Field' arrow to move 'Scheduler Format' to one of the 'Selected' columns.
  9. Click 'Save and Return'.

To add the format field to the project properties page:

  1. Click on [Layout: Edit] to the right of Project Properties.
  2. Click on the link to 'Project Summary', then click the next 'Project Summary' link.
  3. Click on the 'Properties and Layout' icon.
  4. Select 'Schedulers Format' under the 'Available' column.
  5. Click on the 'Add Field' arrow to move 'Scheduler Format' to one of the 'Selected 'columns.
  6. Click 'Save and Return'.

To change the default scheduler:

  1. Click on the [Fields] link to the right of Project Properties.
  2. Click on the Properties icon next to 'Scheduler'.
  3. Click 'Browse' next to 'Override Default'.
  4. Select the appropriate scheduler.
  5. Click the 'Add' button.
  6. Click 'Save and Return'


To add the Scheduler Format field to the Project List view for one user:

  1. Go to Home->Projects and select the gear (Options icon) on the right hand side 
  2. Click Configure 
  3. Move 'Scheduled Format' from 'Available Columns' to 'Selected Columns' 
  4. Click 'Save and Return'

NOTE:

  • It is NOT supported, that any one project is opened in MSP for some users, and in OWB for some other users.
    • Nor is it supported that a project is opened with first one scheduler (say OWB) and then its Scheduler Format attribute is changed to MSP and so users begin to work on the project with MSP.
    • The reason is that both scheduler tools offer different features, and more importantly, each tool uses different models of the project schedule and produce a different scheduling results and have data that the other tool cannot represent.
