Issue/Introduction

Spectrum NCM fails with the following error when trying to capture a configuration from a device: 

Could not connect to the ncmservice.

Service 'spectrum01/ScmService ' didn't exist

Attempting to bind 'spectrum01/ScmService'

Configuration Manager - Capture failed for host running configuration file from device "X" of type Rtr_Cisco on landscape "X" initiated by user spectrum. Specific error: Could not connect to the ncmservice:  System exception: 1330446337 1  minor code 1330446337 spectrum

Environment

DX NetOps Spectrum all releases

Cause

The attributes that SPECTRUM captures on the physical device contained special characters (ie. %, & , umlaut, etc), which causes the problem.  

Resolution

The issue is due to special characters (ie. %, & , umlaut, etc) on the device. Remove the special characters from the entries on the device and the capture will be successful.
