Issue/Introduction

Install a product that create a USS directory fails withgetgrnam_r Error code: 121 EDC5121I Invalid argument. Reason code: 0xB370000 Info: group name: groupname. 

For example:

Creation of directory /xxxxx/usr/lpp/view/webviewer/CA failed. 

com.ca.mf20.zos.services.dataset.errors.AllocationError: Directory /xxxxx/usr/lpp/view/webviewer/CA was not created. Internal Message Log not available.Initial cause: com.ca.mf20.errors.USSGeneralError: action="getgrnam_r", errno=121, errno2=B370000, info="group name: OMVSGROUP", strErrno="EDC5121I Invalid argument."

Resolution

Verify that the group name specified in the base install wizard in the Group Owner* field in step 5 Target Zone (3/3) is correct. That is, it is defined to your system.
