Issue/Introduction

How to prevent the "DUPLICATE MAC WITH DIFFERENT IP DETECTED" alarm in SPECTRUM on a per model basis

In some cases, users may have a need to have two or more models that have the same mac address.

Environment

Release: Any Supported Version
Component: Alarms

Resolution

The default functionality in Spectrum is to assert a "DUPLICATE MAC WITH DIFFERENT IP DETECTED" alarm (Event ID 0x10911 Probable Cause ID 0x10519). This is a user clearable alarm. However, after the user clears the alarm, it will be re-asserted after a while.

To disable the alarm from being re-asserted after clearing, the user can set the  attribute NeedDuplicateMACDiffIP (0x11ce2) to "No" on ALL the models with the duplicate mac address. This can be done using one of the following:

1. The Command Line Interface (CLI) - Reference the "Command Line Interface" section of the documentation for more details.

2. The Attribute Editor - Reference the "OneClick Attribute Editor" section of the documentation for more details.

3. The Attributes tab in the Component Detail panel - Reference the "Attributes Tab" section of the documentation for more details.
