Issue/Introduction

When I try to execute JCL received from CA via email, it fails or gets erroneous results. Why does this happen?

Resolution

It is possible that your email program is removing necessary line breaks. This can cause multiple JCL lines or instream data such as SYSIN to be merged into the same line.

For Microsoft Outlook, check if you have this message at the top of the email, just above 'From': Extra line breaks in this message were removed.

If you click that message and then choose 'restore line breaks', it will restore the extra line breaks and the message is then listed correctly.

This feature in Outlook can be found by selecting 'Tools' then 'Options' then 'E-mail Options'. In 'Message handling' it is 'Remove extra line breaks in plain text messages'.
