Issue/Introduction

Description:

You want to sort a file that has duplicate records, i.e. records with identical values for the sort key. You want the duplicates eliminated.

Resolution

Sort does not have a general option to exclude duplicates from the output.

The SUM FIELDS option can be used when totaling the values of numeric fields. That special case is the only one in which Sort can eliminate duplicates.

Broadcom has products such as VISION:Report and VISION:Results that have a selection process that will enable you to accomplish your goal.
