OPS/MVS Event Management & Automation

Issue/Introduction

The CA 7 Workload Automation Browse Log feature, provided by CA Common Services for z/OS Event Notification Facility(ENF), was not working. The CA OPS/MVS parameter INITCA7 was set to YES and the required data control module (DCM) CAL2DCM1 was defined in the ENF. When trying to start the ENF interface (F OPSS,RESTART(ENF), the following error occurred:
OPS0301S CAIENF error : ENF process - LISTEN failed - RC 8 ; RSC CABMSSTA
OPS0301S CAIENF error : ENF-LISTEN detected ENF error - RC X'08' ; RSC X'80'

Environment

Release: PVLA2.00200-12.2-OPS/MVS-Event Management & Automation-for JES2
Component:

Cause

The error indicates the CPM DCM CADBODCM is not defined to ENF. The parameter INITCPM was also set to YES in CA OPS/MVS. Setting this parameter to yes requires that another data control module (DCM), CADBODCM, is installed in CA ENF, otherwise the error reported above occurs.

Resolution

Change the parameter INITCPM value to NO in the OPSVIEW panel 4.1.1 and issue the command F OPSS,RESTART(ENF).
The INITCPM parameter value must also be changed to NO in the OPSSPA00 initialization REXX for a permanent solution.

However, we recommend using another method to read the CA 7 Workload Automation browse log instead of the Event Notification Facility interface. Please see the CA 7 WA feature: MSMR - Route Master Station (Browse) Messages - CA Workload Automation CA 7® Edition
