Issue/Introduction

Description:

We would like to monitor response time between our policy server and our LDAP. To do so we would like to use the SiteMinder Test tool.

  • Is it possible to use a script that will launch the test tool every two minutes for example?
  • Is it possible to use a "loop" on the script used by the test tool (control file)?

Solution:

There might be better options to monitor the response time between the policy server and the LDAP server as the SiteMinder Test Tool was not designed for this purpose and might not be able to handle the load or other repetitive operations.
For example CA Wily Introscope may be a better tool, it gives detailed report on authentication time, az time...

To answer your questions:

  • Is it possible to use a script that will launch the test tool every 2 minutes for example?
Yes, this is possible to do. You can take a cron/automatic task to do so.
In the test tool, under Mode you see record, basic playback, advanced playback...record should let you record.
  • Is it possible to use a "loop" on the script used by the test tool (control file)?
This should be possible to do, however this is untested and unsupported.
