Issue/Introduction

When trying to manage an endpoint (of type Active Directory in this example), clicking on the EndPoints -> setting up an endpoint type you get the error

"Error: dispatch admin task is not configured for admin task Create Endpoint with object type Active Directory Endpoint and action type Create."

Environment

Identity Manager 14.x & v15

Resolution

For endpoints to be managed by Identity Manager they need to be imported and defined into IDM. See the IDM Administration Guide -> Managed Endpoint Accounts chapter. You need to import a Roles Def xml file into Identity Manager in order for the product to include the elements needed to manage this endpoint including roles/tasks/screens etc..

These role definitions are shipped with the product and need to be imported from Identity Manager management console (/idmmanage). When clicking the Roles and Tasks link you will see many endpoint files. You need to select your endpoint and import it.

All endpoint Role Definition files must be imported after Provisioning is enabled and the provisioning related xml file is imported into IDM. The provisioning xml files are located at:
IdentityManager\IAM Suite\Identity Manager\tools\ProvisioningOnlyRoleDefinitions where you need to select between two files depending on if you implemented managing organization objects.

The error of 'dispatch admin task is not configured for admin task Create Endpoint ... ' is thrown in case the endpoint role def file wasn't imported.
