Issue/Introduction

When Identity Manager is deployed across multiple JBoss or Wildfly nodes behind a web server using the Jakarta plugin, users may intermittently receive "File Not Found" errors. The application server logs will report the following error: DEBUG [ims.ui] [...] Creating task session for not public task without valid User DN

Environment

Identity Manager 14.5

Application Server: JBoss or Wildfly

Web Server: IIS or Apache

Connector: Jakarta plugin

Cause

This error occurs because session affinity (sticky sessions) is not configured correctly on the load balancer. As a result, the user's session is "lost" or becomes invalid when requests are routed between different cluster nodes.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, configure the web server to maintain session affinity, ensuring that subsequent requests from a client are routed to the same application server node.

  1. Locate the workers.properties file in your web server configuration directory.
  2. Open the file in a text editor.
  3. Add or modify the following parameter for your worker node: worker.[YOUR_WORKER_NAME].sticky_session=true
  4. Save the changes.
  5. Restart the web server to apply the new configuration.

Additional Information

For further details on connector configuration and worker properties, refer to the official Apache Tomcat Connectors documentation.
