Resolution

A manual update transaction is issued for tapes being processed by Copycat.

This will override the rule that is in the TLMS RMF. Use the following types of retention with Copycat:

Output volumes:

OUTDISP=RETPD=007
This will update the volume as type 2 retention for 7 days.

OUTDISP=EXPDT=PERM
The volume being created will have retention of permanent control.

OUTDISP=SAME
This will copy the retention schedule from the input volume and update the output volume with the same schedule.

Input volumes:

The INDISP operates in the same manner.

INDISP=RETPD=007
The input volume will be held for 7 days.

INDISP=EXPDT=PERM
The input tape will be held as PERM control. This is not recommended for an INDISP. Most clients use RETPD=007. The volume will be scratched in 7 days.

INDISP=SAME
The disposition on the input file is not modified upon completion of the copy operation.

When you display the volumes via the TLMS ISPF panels you will see that the retention schedule is MAN. This is from the manual transaction issued by Copycat.
