Issue/Introduction

How can I verify my system is clean after uninstalling CA Business Service Insight?

Environment

CA Business Service Insight 8.3.x or earlier

All Supported Windows Operating Systems

Resolution

Caution - It is advised to backup all customized files and data, including a dump of the BSI database.

Pre-requisites:

  1. Record the location of the BSI installation folders

    1. Default locations are:

      1. Program files (x86)\CA\Cloud Insight

      2. Inetpub\wwwroot\Oblicore or \WWWRoot

Uninstall Steps:

1. Uninstall using the MSI installation kit

    1. From the ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS, remove all BSI/Oblicore versions

    2. If there is more than one version, remove the versions from recent to oldest

    3. Ignore all failures notices during the uninstall process

    4. Restart the machine

NOTE: Some of the very old BSI/Oblicore versions do not enable the option to uninstall from ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS - they will be cleaned manually later.

2. Verify and clean Windows components

Note all components that are not removed

1. In the services list, verify that all BSI/Oblicore services are deleted

      1. All services start with - Oblicore - *.

      2. All Services start with - PSL*.

      3. Delete any remaining services via command line with SC.EXE (i.e. SC.exe delete "ServiceName")

2. In the components list, verify that Oblicore Engine was removed and delete it if needed.

    1. Via IIS Manager, restore the home directory to Microsoft default or other folder to your choose, usually \Inetpub\wwwroot

    2. Optionally you can rename the site name from Oblicore_Guarantee to other name by your choice.

3.  In BSI/Oblicore 7.0 or higher, then clean out the message queues

    1. Delete the message queues. For example, in Windows 2008 they exist under Server Manager as shown below:

4.  Clean the Registry.

      1. Remove the entire Oblicore key from HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \SOFTWARE
      2. Remove all keys that contain Oblicore in their data at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Installer\UserData\S-1-5-18\
      3. Remove all keys from HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall that contain the REG_SZ with *Oblicore*
      4. Remove all keys from HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\Installer\Products contain REG_SZ *Oblicore*
      5. Remove all DWORD from HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\SharedDlls contain files that was located at the installation folder (as recorded in the pre-requite step 1,a,i)
      6. Remove the following keys in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Eventlog\Application

        1. AdaptersListener

        2. Alerts

        3. LogServer

5.  Clean the Folders.
