Issue/Introduction

Description:

The Documentation for Policy Server R12-SP2 incorrectly states that Form Post Variables can be used in Responses, but actually they cannot be used in responses.

Form Post variables can only be used in Policies and not in responses.

NOTE:-
Below are the references from the Policy Server Guides for R12-SP2 that incorrectly states that Form POST Variables can be used in responses.

  1. Policy Server Configuration Guide r12.0 SP2 -
Chapter 18: Variables -> Create a Variable -> Create a Form Post Variable

The section states: "You create a Form Post variable to make it available for use in policies or responses."

  2. Policy Server Configuration Guide r12.0 SP2 -
Chapter 18: Variables -> Variables Overview -> Create a Form Post Variable -> How the Policy Server Processes Variables contained in Responses

The section states- "Since Form Post variables may not be used for responses; all variables are resolved by the time a response fires at the Policy Server."

The term "may not be" is misleading since form post variable cannot be used for responses.

Solution:

The FORM POST Variables can only be used in Policies and CANNOT be used in responses.

This has been corrected in the Policy Server Documentation starting R12-SP3.

All references stating or implying that FORM POST variables are supported in responses have been removed from the guides for R12-SP3.
