- Run TAPEINIT.
- If COPIES(2) option is specified, rerun the failing extract with the ALTERNATE parameter. This will result in the alternate tape being used instead of the primary file.
- The bad history file can be recovered (minus one or more blocks, however) by running an IEBGENER and copying it to a different file, with the LABEL=(nn,BLP) parameter coded in the input DD statement.
- If Step 3 was successful, the DELETEX function should be used to remove the bad history file from the SCDS. The ADDX function can then be used to add the copy back in.
