Description:
When launching the DSM Explorer on a system with the Image Prepare System (IPS) installed on Windows 2008 or 2008 R2, The IPS item in the Explorer is only visible if you log in with the account called "Administrator". With any other account, even domain administrator accounts, the OSIM "Image Prepare System" item is not visible.
This occurs even if the user is a member of the local administrators group, and/or also if the user has full control to all objects in the ITCM Domain Manager directly.
Below is what you will see if logged into the DSM Explorer as a user other than the one named "Administrator":

Even if logged in as "Administrator" the following requirements must also be met:

Solution:
To resolve this please open a ticket with CA Support and reference PROBLEM #: 1938, as a fix is available.
As a workaround, users who do have permission to see the OSIM "Image Prepare System" tree in the DSM Explorer on Windows Server 2008/R2 machines can do so using their existing logins if they follow the steps below:

<Please see attached file for image>
IMPORTANT: Even if the above steps are done, this item will only appear if the IPS is installed on the machine running DSM Explorer. Example: If IPS is installed on the Domain Manager and you run DSM Explorer from your desktop, the Image Prepare System item will not be visible to you under any circumstances. This is by design as it should not be used on such machines.
