Microsoft Patch KB2506212 breaks the eHealth MKS XServer.

MKS has stated that the latest Microsoft Security Patches appear to have broken backward compatibility in MFC42.dll.

Problem Ticket: PRD00056929

CA Advises customers to defer application of the KB2506212 Patch. The patch addresses a 'Security update for Windows Fax Cover Page Editor MFC components'.

Windows Fax Services is an optional component of Windows Server 2003- eHealth customers probably to do not use it. If it is installed, it can be removed by selecting 'Control Panel/Add or Remove Programs/Add/Remove Windows Components/Fax Services'.

If a customer prefers to apply the patch, they may use an X-Server other than the MKS product (for example, Hummingbird Exceed), or they may work-around the problem by putting the old .dll in the MKS directory.

To put the old .dll into the MKS directory:

  1. Under eH 6.2 & 6.1, copy the original mfc42.dll from %SystemRoot%\WINDOWS\$NtUninstallKB2506212$ to '%SystemDrive%\Program Files\Common Files\MKS XServer\'.

    Under eH 6.0, copy the original mfc42.dll from %SystemRoot%\WINDOWS\$NtUninstallKB2506212$ to '%SystemDrive%\Program Files\Common Files\Vision\'.

  2. Restart the system.
