Exploring SunOne Directory server is very slow or appears to hang.

This is caused by server-side sorting which is not supported by the Java Connector Server (JCS).

The solution is to turn off the paging/server-side-sorting:

  1. Copy %jcs-home%/conf/override/jndi/SAMPLE.connector.xml to %jcs-home%/conf/override/jndi/connector.xml

  2. Add the bold italic section below after the following text in the connector.xml just created:
    <property name="allowMetadataModify"><value>true</value></property><!-- add this --><property name="forcePagedResults"><value>false</value></property>
  3. Restart the JCS

Doing this will turn off paging for ALL the JNDI connectors hosted by the target JCS.
