Issue/Introduction

When starting the SpectroSERVER the following errors are generated in the $SPECROOT/SS/VNM.OUT and the Spectrum Control Panel (SCP) if it is open:

Oct 18 16:05:48 ERROR at IcmpServer.cc(754): socket() FAILURE,
Cs_sock_get_last_error() = 97
Oct 18 16:05:48 ERROR at IcmpServer.cc(772): Error setting SO_SNDBUF=262144
Oct 18 16:05:48 ERROR at IcmpServer.cc(778): Error setting SO_RCVBUF=262144

Environment

Release: Any
Component: SPCCSS

Cause

The problem is due to disabling IPv6 on the SpectroSERVER system. When the SpectroSERVER starts up, it opens a socket for IPv4 and IPv6 communication. If IPv6 is disabled on the SpectroSERVER system Spectrum is installed on, the IcmpServer socket error will show.

Resolution

Enable IPv6 to solve the error messages.Otherwise, this message can be ignored.
