Issue/Introduction

Description:

This document explains why the error "open xxxxxxxxxxxx.map failed" comes up while trying to launch the public interface of Asset Intelligence and what steps to take to fix it.

This error may only come up with the browser on the server but opening the same page from a browser on a different machine works OK.

Solution:

After launching the public interface of Asset Intelligence if we encounter the error "open xxxxxxxxxxxx.map failed" in the Asset inventory counts tab, we need to perform the following steps:

Please check the permissions on the webroot folder, PHP folder and the sessiondata folder within PHP. Make sure all AI user groups (AIAdmin,AIPublic,AIAuth,AIRestricted) have full control permissions to both the PHP folder and the sessiondata folder.

Usually this error occurs if AI is installed with an account that didn't have administrative privileges. Try logging in as local administrator rather than any other account and see if the error is encountered in that case. It is recommended to always install AI with an account with Administrator privileges (like local administrator - <hostname>\Administrator).
