Issue/Introduction

When implementing System Status Detection (SSD) partitioning protocol and formatting a new CDS with the ITEM NAME(SSTATDET) NUMBER(1) control statement, when you try to switch to this new CDS, the following messages appear on the console:

IXC103I SYSTEM IDENTIFICATION INFORMATION 772
CONNECTION STATUS: NOT CONNECTED
SYSTEM NAME: ssss
SYSTEM NUMBER: ########
IMAGE NAME: ssss
NODE DESCRIPTOR: ######.###.##.############
PARTITION NUMBER: 03
CPC ID: 00
NETWORK ADDRESS: #######.#####
IPL TOKEN: NOT AVAILABLE
IXC104I SYSTEM STATUS DETECTION PARTITIONING PROTOCOL ELIGIBILITY: 773 SYSTEM CAN TARGET OTHER SYSTEMS. SYSTEM IS NOT ELIGIBLE TO BE TARGETED BY OTHER SYSTEMS. REASON: INSUFFICIENT SAF RESOURCE ACCESS AUTHORITY IXC107E SYSTEM STATUS DETECTION PARTITIONING PROTOCOL CONFIGURATION IS NOT COMPLETE

Resolution

The error is occurring because XCFAS is running with the *BYPASS* ACID.

The following implementation should be used when using SSD and BCPii:

  1. Defined and ACID for the XCFAS A/S. Give it FAC(STC) and all the bypass attributes like:

    NODSNCHK NOVOLCHK NORESCHK NOLCFCHK NOSUBCHK.

Adding those bypass attributes to the XCFAS acid is equivalent to the RACF trusted attribute.

The ACID should have a non-expiring password and OPTIONS(4) be set in the Top Secret parameter file.

Also, the XCFAS ACID needs an OMVS segment (minimum UID, GROUP, and DFLTGRP).

  2. Permit "HWI.TARGET.netid.nau" in the IBMFAC resource class with the APPLDATA(community-name) parameter to the * ALL* record with access READ. The community name is case sensitive.
