Issue/Introduction

Description:

There is a very rare problem where the login page for CA Process Automation becomes unusable and will display as if it were a generic page. No user is able to log in to Process Automation at this point.

This is a combination of an out of memory error and the files in the Process Automation /tmp directory becoming corrupt.

The memory problem can also initially present itself in pre 4.0 versions as the link to the Client piece in the upper right is missing.

Solution:

To correct this, the following must be done:

  1. Stop the orchestrator

  2. Delete the \data \tmp and \work directories under <PAM install directory>\server\c2o

  3. If ITPAM and the JDK in use are 64-bit, increase the wrapper.java.maxmemory= value as much as possible, up to 4g (4096) if the memory is available on the machine - in the c2osvcw.conf file under C:\Program Files\CA\PAM\server\c2o\bin (for 32-bit implementations, 1GB is the max)

    The setting would look like:
    wrapper.java.maxmemory=4096

    Restart the orchestrator and the generic "BRAND_NAME" login page is gone and the link to log in to the client piece is returned.
