Timesheet browsing error: "Error 500 System Error..."

When you attempt to click on Timesheets, you see an error message in the application.

Error 500 System Error. Contact System Administrator

The application log file shows the following error message.

Exception in processing java.lang.RuntimeException: com.niku.union.persistence.PersistenceException:
SQL error code: 1861
Error message: [CA Clarity][Oracle JDBC Driver][Oracle]ORA-01861: literal does not match format string


This error message indicates an issue with interpreting dates in the query that returns the data requested.

Verify that the 'init.ora' file in the Clarity database has the proper setting for NLS_DATE_FORMAT parameter.

If the setting is not correct:

  1. Update the setting to the proper format
  2. Restart services
  3. Access the Timesheets.
