Issue/Introduction

Does the Spectrum processd username and or password need to be updated on Linux or Solaris?

Environment

Release: Any version of Spectrum supported on Solaris and/or Linux
Component: SPCCSS

Resolution

There is no need to update processd with the new root user password. The authentication takes place automatically and there is no need to reconfigure the processd if the password is changed for the root user.

To demostrate this executing ./processd with no options will list the syntax on the Linux box from bash -l shell:

[root@host SDPM]# /processd
"SPECTRUM Process Daemon" daemon
usage: ./processd
       [{ --start | --stop | --restart | --pid | --debug | --version }]

Notice processd does not support the "--install" option indicating that it is not required to install (reconfigure) the processd with new root user password.
