Issue/Introduction

When executing the Online Viewing maintenance job to delete expired reports and MSGCLASS entries out of Online Viewing, the job fails with the following errors:

DCD0034E IDMS DATABASE ERROR * RECORD BYPASSED * CAI SHOULD BE NOTIFIED

Environment

Any z/OS environment.

Cause

These errors can occur if you don't actually have any reports or msgclass data in Online Viewing at the time the DSEXVIEW or DSEXPSVW job is being run.

Check and see if you have anything in Online Viewing by selecting options B.1 and B.2 from the main menu and see if you see any entries on the screens.

Assuming you find that the "VOVMI010 - View Report Selection" and "VOVMI200 - MSGCLASS Job Selection" screens are empty/blank, this would confirm that there is nothing in Online Viewing, and would explain why the errors were received. 

Resolution

To prevent these errors from being received in a future run of the Online Viewing maintenance job, consider putting something in online viewing that has a GENERATION type retention so that it will always be there when the Online Viewing maintenance job is executed.
