Issue/Introduction

Description:

After upgrading CA Common Services (CCS390) to release 14.0 or above, CPU time used by CA Disk jobs and DMSARs can increase significantly.

Environment

Release: SMDI3900200-12.5-Disk-Backup and Restore-for z/OS
Component:

Resolution

Solution:

When CA Disk health checks are implemented and enabled, a small amount of CPU time (approx 0.21 sec) per job step is used by CA Disk health check module ADSHR001. This amount of additional CPU usage is added to each CA Disk job. The amount of extra CPU time will vary per customer site and can be more than 0.21 seconds per job. If many jobs with short execution times run, the additional CPU usage can be substantial.

This problem is experienced after upgrading CA Common Services to release 14.0 or above.

IMPACT:

The total amount of CPU time used by CA Disk jobs and DMSARs can increase significantly depending on the number of jobs run.
