Issue/Introduction

WVCtrl.sh does not work on RedHat 7.2.

Cause

For WVCtrl.sh to work properly, its recommended to have netcat(nc) and telnet installed in the Linux machine.

According to the APM compatibility guide, EM and Webview are officially supported on Red Hat Linux 5.x, 6.x , 7.x and CentOS 6.5, 7.x.
However, in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7, a new networking utility, ncat, replaces netcat an some of the commands in ncat differ from those originally provided by netcat, in this specific case, the -z option is no longer supported hence preventing the WVCtrl.sh to work properly.

Environment

redhat 7.xAPM 10.x

Resolution

This issue is fixed in 10.5

Workaround:

If telnet is installed
1.Open the WVCtrl.sh
2.Update NETCAT environment variable to point to an invalid path for example:

NETCAT="/usr/bin/ncppppp"
NC_OPTS="-w 3 -z"
..
This change will force the call to netcat to fail so the checks can happen using telnet.
3.Restart webview.

Running WVCtrl.sh fails to launch WebView.

WV would not start. Reconnect attempt to EM repeats.
