Issue/Introduction

The following error messages are seen in the OneClick gui Event tab or in the AlarmNotifier's Notifier.OUT:

"No Associated Text"

"<date> - <time> - An event occurred for model '<model name>' of type '<type>' for which no event format file exists. (event [<hexcode>])"

Error code SPC-OCC-10231

Environment

DX NetOps Spectrum Release: Any

Cause

This usually happens in a distributed environment in which multiple SpectroSERVERs and multiple OneClick servers are used. If event files are missing from a DSS SpectroSERVER or secondary OneClick server, you may see the errors on missing event files.

NOTE: the Event Configuration Editor utility has a "synchronize" option - however, this option is to propagate 'EventDisp' and 'AlertMap' across DSS servers only. This Synchronize option does NOT sync EvFormat or PCause files.

Resolution

To resolve this, copy the contents of the $SPECROOT/custom/Events directory to your multiple OneClick servers. If the problem is being seen in Alarm Notifier output, then those files also need to be copied to each DSS SpectroSERVER.

The event files are located in the following directories:

$SPECROOT/custom/Events/CsEvFormat
$SPECROOT/custom/Events/CsPCause

Once the files have been copied to the other OneClick servers, you need to upload them to the OneClick cache.  To do that, navigate to that OneClick admin page (http://<ONECLICK_HOST>:<PORT>), click on Administration, Update Event and Alarm files and click the Reload button.

If you have to move them to the SpectroSERVER, they go in the same location, but you then need to cycle the AlarmNotifier process.

Additional Information

Synchronize Event and Alarm Support Files on OneClick Web Servers

Support files are created when you create and configure events and alarms and save them to one or more landscapes using Event Configuration.

The following types of files are created and updated automatically on only the OneClick web server to which you are connected:

  • Event format files
Store the event messages that are displayed in OneClick. Every event that DX NetOps Spectrum creates has an event format file

  • Probable cause files

Store the alarm messages that are displayed in OneClick. Every alarm that DX NetOps Spectrum creates and that appears on the Alarms tab in OneClick has a probable cause file.

If you are running multiple OneClick web servers, copy the folders containing the event format files and the probable cause files to the other OneClick servers in your distributed environment. Copy the following folders:

    $SPECROOT/custom/Events/CsEvFormat
    $SPECROOT/custom/Events/CsPCause

Also copy the contents of these same directories to a custom directory on all of the SpectroSERVERs in your environment in the following circumstances:

Use the command-line interface (CLI) commands showalarms or showevents.

Use DX NetOps Spectrum Alarm Notification Manager (SANM).
