Resolution

Here is a screenshot that shows the project tree used for the example below:

 

We start with creating a new custom page:


 

Next we add an app from the App Catalog, e.g. Project Cumulative Flow Chart:

 

Go to the Setting under the app's gear menu to change the scope from the default global scope to a specific project. In this example our top project is Jupiter, and one of its child projects is selected:



The app loads. Next we add the same Project Cumulative Flow Chart and set it's scope to a different child of the same parent project. Click on the gear icon for the entire page to access "Add App" menu item:

Now the custom page displays two reports side by side:

 

The same steps are repeated to add Iteration Planning Board for the same to child projects:
