How create ITCM Query on Patches in Software Inventory

Issue/Introduction

In Query Designer under Software - Discovered Software, the software of type patches do not appear in the firs level in the list.

How to create ITCM Query for Discovered Software Patches?

Environment

Client Automation - All Versions

Resolution

Example :

In Software Discovered folder of one machine some patches with Source 'CA Provided' have been discovered (like "CA - Win 2012 R2 Post Gold 64Bit x64 OS Only - FULL Security Rollup v1608.00") :

 

In ITCM Query Designer, under Software - Discovered Software, how to find this patch in order to create a query about it ?

 

1- In ITCM Query Designer, under Software - Discovered Software, expand Categories - All.

Find one product for which the patch could be applied.

 

Example : 

For patch "CA - Win 2012 R2 Post Gold 64Bit x64 OS Only - FULL Security Rollup v1608.00", it could be :

Microsoft Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard x64 64

or

Microsoft Windows Server 2012 R2 Datacenter x64 64

etc...

 

2- Expand the product and the release. Under the release all patches are displayed. The patch should be found.

 

3- Click OK and the argument for the patch in added in the query:
