IBM reported the VSAM access error as defect when their product uses the CNV, ASY of OPTCD option on RPL macro (Control interval access, Asynchronous access) to PUT/CHECK.
Does Librarian use the CNV, ASY of OPTCD option on RPL macro ?
Release: 4.4
Environment:
z/OS(current and previous) has this defect as a potential error.
Answer:
The CNV, ASY of OPTCD option on RPL macro is not used anywhere in the Librarian.
Additional Information:
IBM repoted as follows,
About the phenomenon which the DBFUMIN0 of DEDB initialization utility is WAIT(SW16-0258). This is a defect of new logic of z/OS DFSMS VSAM.
A timing hall exists in the VSAM logic which this phenomenon occurrs. An interrupt occurs in the range of specific 2 commands.
This is a very rare problem to occur when a CPU resource is tight.
This may occur if you specify the CNV, ASY with the OPTCD of RPL, and issue the PUT/CHECK repeatedly from the program.
In addition, in the general VSAM application, it can not occur for a logical record level and synchronous processing.
This defect has the previous z/OS version, too.
