Issue/Introduction

Is there a CA IDMS Server ODBC driver package for Unix/Linux ?

Resolution

CA IDMS Server provides open access to data stored in CA IDMS databases, letting you maintain existing corporate databases and make your data available to new client-server and web-based applications. The product supports dynamic SQL by using both the ODBC and JDBC application program interfaces.CA IDMS Server can be used to establish communications with a CA IDMS mainframe CV from any ODBC- or JDBC-compliant platform.

As part of the install for CA IDMS Server, we provide an ODBC Driver for IDMS. All ODBC drivers, however, require a Driver Manager. Microsoft provides an ODMC Driver Manager. There is no Driver Manager on a Unix or Linux machine. So we do not provide an ODBC driver for UNIX or Linix.

You can, however, use our JDBC driver on any platform. If you download the Server install from our online support site you will find a JDBC .jar file. That file contains the JDBC driver and can be ported to any JDBC-compliant platform, including UNIX or Linux
