Issue/Introduction

This article provides instructions for updating an expired service account password for Salesforce endpoints within Identity Manager. Use these procedures when the Endpoint Properties dialogue is inaccessible via the standard user interface.

Environment

Identity Manager

Resolution

If the service account password for a Salesforce endpoint expires, you may be unable to view the Endpoint dialogue screen in the Identity Manager UI or Provisioning Manager. Follow the below to update the credentials in the Provisioning Directory.

Prerequisites Connect to the Provisioning Directory using an LDAP browser with the following parameters:

  • Host: Provisioning Repository DSA Hostname
  • Port: 20394
  • BaseDN: dc=etadb
  • BindDN: eTDSAContainerName=DSAs,eTNamespaceName=CommonObjects,dc=etadb
  • Password: Provisioning Repository Shared Secret (configured during installation)
  • Navigation: Browse to eTNamespaceName=Salesforce,dc=im,dc=etadb and locate the specific endpoint.

Clear Text Update

  1. Update the password directly in the Provisioning Directory in clear text.
  2. Use the Provisioning Manager to re-enter the same password; this ensures the system encrypts and stores the value correctly.
