Output Management Web Viewer

Issue/Introduction

The first screen displayed after logging onto to Web Viewer 12.1 after the Install is blank.

Environment

Release: Web Viewer 12.1
Component:

Cause

The Web Viewer screens will not look like the ones you get when you log onto mainframe View.  You must configure Web Viewer initially

Resolution

Importing Parameters from a Previous Release:

If you were previously running Web Viewer for Windows, version 11.0 or 11.5, you may use the Export tool supplied with Web Viewer 12.1 to access your old SQL database and copy out the parameters to three .xml files.  Note that favorites and generic users cannot be exported.  Then from the administration tool in Web Viewer 12.1, you can import these three files.

Defining Parameters from the Web Viewer 12.1 Administration Tab:

These parameters can be defined to manage OM Web Viewer. They are available from the Administration tab on one of the six subtabs shown on the GUI at the top of the left pane.

  1. Repository: Connection to View, Bundl, Dispatch.  Web Viewer will "discover" available repositories to aid in this definition.
  2. Role: Four role types; System Administrator, Group Administrator, Advanced User, Basic User  [You may not need all role types]. A Role is a definition of user group permissions. Group Administrators have access only to the Role, Profile, and User options and System Administrators have access to all the admin options.
  3. Profile: Mainframe proxy profile  [needed for LDAP only]. This is a definition that is used to allow multiple LDAP users to log onto View or Bundl using a single administrator-defined set of mainframe credentials.
  4. Directory: LDAP user directory  [needed for LDAP only]
  5. User: Web Viewer User accounts. These supply basic user information including the Roles that were selected for this user.
Note all users with a mainframe signon can sign onto Web Viewer initially and be added as a default user.  You do not have to define every user.
  6. Preferences tab includes General and Display preferences, output defaults, auditing settings and statistics.

The most important thing to do first is to create additional system admins for Web Viewer.
