Issue/Introduction

Alerts from the vmware probe come from the vcenter and not the individual virtual machine host.

Environment

Release: UIM 8.x or newer
Component: UIMVMW

Cause

The default behavior for vmware probe 6.72 is to agregate self-monitoring alarms based on monitor type.

All alarms on  will aggregate to one VCenter.

Resolution

This can be reversed to the behavior of a previous vmware probe versiohn, (as seen in 6.60), using the configuration Setup key;
enable_self_monitoring_alarm_aggregation = false

Also with 6.72 by default self-monitoring alarm is sent only once when it occurs on a monitor type and it won’t sent again unless its cleared or the probe rebooted.

To reverse this and cause the probe to send a self-monitoring alarm every polling cycle, create the following Setup key:
enable_self_monitoring_alarm_same_error_suppression = false
