Issue/Introduction

The following error is generated when a JCL member with a SORT step is being validated, and a SYSIN DD statement is already present:

CAY6592 REQUIRED ‘SORT|MERGE|OPTION COPY STATEMENT NOT SPECIFIED

Environment

Release: 12.0
Component: JCLCheck Workload Automation

Resolution

JCLCheck r12.0 supports control card checking for DFSORT and SYNCSORT.   The CAY6592 REQUIRED ‘SORT|MERGE|OPTION COPY STATEMENT NOT SPECIFIED  message may be valid for the following conditions:

  • Your SYSIN DD member is missing
  • If you are creating the Sort control statements in a previous step as data file, and using the file as input in the SYSIN DD

JCLCheck must be able to open and read the Sort control statements in the SYSIN DD statement in order to validate the Sort statements.
