Issue/Introduction

Question:

How can I switch the Windows Client (WC) on my PC from using the local database,
but rather to use the WC databases installed on a central server without doing a complete reinstall?

Answer:

1. If your PC is running a 64-bit Windows, then in REGEDIT the key is under:
"HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\ComputerAssociates\BrightStor Storage Resource Manager\Windows Client\Information"
The values to change are:
"Central Location", the default value is:  "C:\BrightStor SRM Data\Central"
"LocalDBlocation" , the default value is:  "C:\BrightStor SRM Data\Database"
Change these two entries to specify the location (path) of these databases on the central server.

2. If your PC is NOT running a 64-bit Windows, then in REGEDIT the key is under:
"HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ComputerAssociates\BrightStor Storage Resource Manager\Windows Client\Information\Central Location"
Change the two entries noted above to specify the location (path) of these databases on the central server.
